Choosing illuminated letters
Front-lit, halo-lit or both: how each one looks on your building.
Front, back or both
Front-lit letters light up their faces, the front of each letter. Halo-lit letters throw light onto the wall behind them, so each letter glows around its edge. Some signs do both. Start with the look you want and where people will see it from: the street, the parking lot or the sidewalk.
The building matters
The color and texture of the wall change how a halo looks. Letter size, spacing and the detail in your logo decide how easy the sign is to read. Think about mounting and power at the same time as the artwork.
Compare the whole job
Ask what the quote includes: the letters, the lighting, the mounting, the installation, taking down the old sign, the electrical work and the city permit if the job needs one. Two signs of the same size can need very different work.
